Cinnamon Buns
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 2 tbsp dry yeast
- 1 1/2 tbsp salt
- 4 cups flour
- 3 eggs
- 6 tbsp butter (margarine)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 6 tbsp butter (margarine)
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup raisins sultana
- 1/2 cup nuts (optional)
- 9 1/2″ x 13″ glass pan
Method:
- Combine milk, water and sugar until dissolved, add yeast and salt
- Add 3 cups flour and beat until smooth
- Cream butter (marg), sugar and 3 eggs added one at a time. Beat thoroughly until light and fluffy – add to above
- Add 1 cup, making the dough mixture soft
- Place in greased pan – allow to rise ( 10 mins)
- Take dough roll out into 14″ x 9″ on floured counter. Butter the dough and sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon and and Raisins on the rolled out dough. Roll up the dough starting at the 9″ side making a 14″ long roll. Cut the roll into 12 buns and place back in greased pan and cover.
- Let dough rise again to double in size ( 60-90 min). Take out the buns and place in 9″ x13″ baking pan. This pan should have a thing layer of melted b utter and brown sugar in the bottom. if you were adding nuts you could add them in this layer before adding the buns. Place the pan on the low oven rack and cook for 20-25 minutes at 350 F. Once cooked let the buns cool and then take out of the pan and turn over. The Cinnamon Buns will now have the brown sugar butter mixture on the top.
